About Us
Who we are
Wishaw Credit Union was founded in 1997 to give our community a fairer, more supportive way to manage money. Every member has an equal say in how we operate, making sure the credit union truly works for everyone.
Our journey began in 1996, when a group of local founders met with the Scottish Credit Union Development Agency. By September 1997, we were up and running with 110 founding members. We grew quickly adding a collection point in Coltness in 1998 and moving to our own premises on Wishaw Main Street in 1999. In 2022, we moved to our current location, a move that reflects our ongoing commitment to our members and our community.
In 2002, we joined the Scottish League of Credit Unions (SLCU), connecting with other credit unions and strengthening our focus on helping local people. Today, our growth and development continue, thanks to our hard working team, volunteers, and the loyalty of our members.
